Last Friday afternoon I had an email from Vinnie in Bangkok to inform me of a couple of Mexican guys who are on a yearlong fund raising trip around the world with the aim to participate in triathlons and marathons on each continent while training for their first IM before ending the trip with IM Zurich in Switzerland on July 12th. They wanted to know if they could meet up with some of the local triathletes and exchange stories and in turn tell us their’s.
I shot an email back saying most of us were off to Lake Kenyir, back only Sunday night. To cut a longish story short (for a change). They came and joined us for RHBee’s birthday celebration at Souled Out on Sunday evening.
David & Roberto quit their jobs in order to travel the world promoting the message of a healthy lifestyle. It’s not all roses and as plain sailing as it sounds. Their friend Raul is in Mexico needing a lung transplant. He has Cystic fibrosis. Each city David & Roberto visit they tell their story and are looking for sponsors and support to help them raise the USD300,000 for Raul’s operation in San Diego.
I was not feeling very well Sunday night and would have liked nothing better than to stay home. Had I done this, I would not have been able to meet these two inspirational guys who are travelling on a shoestring budget, against the odds when the state of global economy is not particularly ‘healthy’.
But no one can choose when to get sick. We never know what is just around the corner. This has been proved this week with the news of Ngae who now I understand is recovering well.
We must embrace every day. Live our life. Live YOUR dream and support one another as best we can. Be it through words of encouragement, a hug or a free meal, whatever you offer...be positive, think positive and remember how lucky we are.
For more information on David & Roberto’s cause, please click on the links. I will keep you updated with their progress and how donations can be made.
Thank YOU for reading. Sorry wasn’t short after all was it!!!
